Initial Ideas LO2 (P2)

 Initial Ideas LO2 (P2)

I have now chosen the channel I would like to do for my ident which is Tiny Pop. Here is my 3 Initial ideas:

Initial Idea 1:

For my first ident idea it'll be at 6am - 12pm since it's the morning. I'll play my ident through those times since it'll be showing morning children shows. Therefore, my ident will include the sun rise in fast motion with fun music. I may include some characters from the show throughout my ident. However at the end it'll have a pop up of Tiny Pop with the children shouting "Tiny Pop". It'll contain music from the previous idents. Since the music is upbeat it'll help the target audience children 7 and below wake up not in a grumpy mood.

  • Sound effects (chicken indicating it's morning)
  • Will be filmed in my garden
  • Music in the background
  • Voice over (children shouting)

Initial Idea 2:

For my second idea it'll be at 12pm - 6pm. This is midday and when the popular shows are shown. I'll make my ident be similar to the previous Tiny Pop ident. I'll have colourful crayons and write Tiny Pop out and the it'll pop out and have the voice over of Tiny Pop. The difference is that the crayons part will be in real life. Showing how it's authentic, and fun ready for the next show to come on. It'll contain the same music from the previous idents keeping the ident original and not copyrighted. It's upbeat and fun ready for the target audience of children 7 and below.

  • Sound effects (the writing)
  • Music in the background
  • Voice over (children shouting)

Initial Idea 3:

For my final idea it'll be at 6pm - 6am. This is for a full 12 hours since it's bedtime for children. Furthermore, in this ident it'll be similar to the first idea however it'll be sundown and when the moon starts to show. At the end of the ident, it'll also have the children tiredly say, "Tiny Pop'. This ident will be relaxing with relaxed music of the previous initial ideas. It'll be like a lullaby so that the target audience of children 7 and below can fall asleep or get sleepy whilst watching the channel and its programmes. This will most likely be filmed in a park.

  • Sound effects (yawning)
  • Music in the background
  • Will be filmed in a park
  • Voice over (children-tired saying Tiny Pop)

Conventions of an Ident LO2 (P2)

Conventions of an Ident LO2 (P2)

An ident is useful since it'll represent what the channel is all about and the programmes that will come on after the ident is shown. When looking at an ident the main thing I believe that needs to be shown is the name of the channel. For the ident I have chosen which is Tiny Pop their idents have at the end the name of the channel (the logo). By doing this the audience will be able to put two and two together and make a connection through the ident and the channel.

The ident also may include music in the background. The type of music being played could display what type of programmes are shown. The music could be slow paced, fast, upbeat and much more. The ident could also be a taster on what the programme will be like next since idents show various of different clues on what the next programme will be about like I've mentioned before.

Another convention about idents is the way they're shown. For an example the Tiny Pop ident is shown throughout breaks. This gives time for the audience to process what type of show is going to be shown next. Making them pick if they should stay around for the next show or not. When looking at the Tiny Pop ident its fun, creative and entertaining. We can see that this suits the channel, since it fits the range of the target audience as well. Another thing about Idents they have to suit the target audience otherwise people won't stay to watch the channel. The Tiny Pop ident is colourful which catches the attention of the target audience of ages 7 and below. This means that the Tiny Pop ident needs to be eye-catching to the eyes of the target audience and has to be relatable to the programmes that is shown on the channel.

History of your channel and it's ident LO2 P2

 History of Tiny Pop:

When was Tiny Pop launched?

Tiny Pop was first launched 8th September 2003. It's target audience is children aged 7 and under. The channel was first launched on Sky with the channel number being 615.Tiny Pop was also launched on the 11th of October 2007 on Virgin Media. Then it launched on Freesat on channel 605 in 2008 with it's other channel Pop. Pop got removed in 2011 but came back on the 25th of August 2016. Tiny Pop is a Freeview channel as long as the providers are Samsung, TV+ and Netgem.

Changes in the logo:

As we can see the Tiny Pop logos has changed significantly as we are able to see throughout the images. The first logo that came out we are able to see that it's a simple design with not much detail. However, throughout the other logos we're able to see that each logo has kept something the same. The background of the text of the logo has stayed the same. The text having colourful circles amongst each letter of the words Tiny Pop. We are also able to see how technology got better over time. Each logo gets advanced each time.

Ident's over time:

In the video below we are able to see how each ident changed over time. At 00:00 - 00:08 the first idents quality isn't that good however the more we get into the video the better the quality it gets. The first ident shows us how the show is made for kids, it's suitable. Each of the other ident is related to that and shows us different adapts that's made for kids. All the idents have colourful colour scheme, similar logos, and much more. The video starts from the ident from 2007 and ends with the 2018 ident. Each time the ident changes we can see how each ident gets advanced over time. At 00:23 we are able to see the latest ident. We can see how they've changed over time the font, the quality and the background colours are less vibrant. The This shows us that Tiny Pop has been around for ages.

LO2 - Initial research into Audio Visual Products (P2)

After investigating Freeview, the idents I would like to redesign is Tiny Pop and Pop.

Tiny Pop

Tiny Pop is a free-to-air children TV channel in the UK. The channel has various of different programmes. One of the programmes on Tiny Pop is My Little Pony. My Little Pony is a programme where friends find the power of friendship. Later on in the schedule, that day we have Hello Kitty. With a various number of programmes on the channel, gender and ethnicity doesn't matter whilst watching the channel. There is something for any child.

The overall target audience for Tiny Pop is ages 7 and under. This is shown because there are a variety of different, children shows. We can also see this since the channels plays for 24 hours and doesn't have an end. When children wake up at the night, they'll be able to watch Tiny Pop since it airs 24/7.

I think that the logo of Tiny Pop is suitable for the target audience since its colourful and fun. The colour scheme has multiple different colours which will indicate what shows will be shown on the channel. For an example happy shows. The colour scheme literally Pop out.

There are a variety of different idents for Tiny Pop however they all have something in common the music, the saying of Tiny Pop and the colourful colours. The ident I've chosen below is colourful and fun. It involves colouring pencils in which will attract the target audience since children love colouring. The overall purpose of this ident for this channel is to show people what the channel is really about and what the programmes they show have to offer. It shows that the programmes are suitable for kids and perfect to cheer your child up.

Pop

Pop is a free-to-air children TV channel in the UK. The channel has various of different programmes. One of the programmes on Pop is Miraculous Ladybug. Miraculous Ladybug is a programme where the main character gains powers and have to defeat villains with her side kick Cat Noir. Later on in the schedule, that day we have Alvin and the Chipmunks, Barbie, She-ra and much more. Pop has various of different programmes for any child no matter the gender nor ethnicity.

The overall target audience for Pop is ages are 4-9. This has a slightly older target audience than Tiny Pop since it's aimed for a older children audience. There is still a variety of children's shows however they may show more PG content. This channel airs 24/7. When children wake up at the night, they'll be able to watch Pop.

I think that the logo of Pop is suitable for the target audience since it stands out. It uses the same typography but takes away the childish colour scheme. The colour red, makes the audience know that this is a more mature version of Tiny Pop and will show different programmes.

There are a variety of different idents for Pop however they all have something in common the music and a similar colour scheme. The ident I've chosen below is a space themed ident. It shows various of different space themed items floating outwards which is suitable for the target audience since they won't be overwhelmed by it. It emphasises how lots of things Pop out which is quite literal to the channel. Also, the ident is 3D which also shows the maturity and more development of this channel. The overall purpose of this ident for this channel is to show people what the channel has to offer and what themes and genres they have.

LO1 Understanding the purpose of audio-visual promos (P1,M1, D1)

 audio-visual promos

ENHYPEN - Bite Me (Music Video): P1

ENHYPEN Bite Me music video informs, entertains and sells their merch. As we can see at the end of the music video at 3:03 we can see that a webtoon was used for the storyline. This informs people that there is more to the story, then the music video. ENHYPEN has a storyline which they've been following throughout their music videos. With a storyline they entertain people, and when people will look at the music video for the first time they'll want to learn more about the storyline and may look back at other music videos.

Since ENHYPEN has realised a music video, people will be informed that there is a new album out the Dark Blood album. They would buy the album (purchase the product) then they will want to buy much more merch from them for an example their FATE merch which has jewellery, hoodies etc.

Agile-M1
Target Audience:

Age: 16 - 25
I think that the age range it's 16-25 years old since the K-pop group is young and between those age ranges. However, the music will be suited for anyone.
Gender: Majority Female
I believe that the gender is majority female since they'll get into the band and start having crushes on them.
Interest: K-Pop
This is a K-Pop group which means that majority of people who listen to ENHYPEN listens to other K-Pop artists.
Location: Mainly Korea but Global
This would be global since there are many K-Pop fans all over the world however it's mainly targeted in Korea.
Ethnicity: Any
Ethnicity is any because anyone can listen to this song anytime anywhere. It's not targeted at a specific Ethnicity however they do sing in Korean and English. You can enjoy music and not understand it.

Codes and conventions:

I expected something bloody from the music video. However, it is bloody but not too and it took the turn to the better. The music video contains loads of different conventions such as, editing and camera angles. For the editing we are able to see at 2:20 the chess turns into the dance floor that they're dancing on. This is a good transition to do scene to scene with.

For the camera angles at 1:35 - 1:40 the different scenes create the scene not become boring. The variety of scenes in 5 seconds make it fun and enjoyable to watch. This music video meets to the expectations since it has a variety of codes and conventions in the music video, and it is what the title is saying.

Analysis: D1
The representation of the artist is well put together since it shows the meaning of the music video. They have characters from the webtoon which each member of ENHYPEN represents. Also, the meaning of the song makes sense since the title of the song is called "Bite Me" and they're vampires.  Bite Me music video is expressing emotions to the audience telling the audience who they are and want they want to happen (they want to be bitten). At the end of the music video at 2:59 it shows us the narrative of the product which is anchored. The audience will get an idea on what's happened in the music video, since it's a line from the webtoon. ENHYPEN are the main artist in the music video (with female back up dancers) makes us as the audience understand the message of vampires. The music video is a literal interpretation of the title.

Inside Out (Film Trailer): P1

The Inside Out film trailer educates and sells products. As we can see at 0:29 - 0:38 we are able to see that there are different emotions inside of Riley's head (and everyone else in the film e.g., her mum and dad seen in the trailer). Since we don't know what happens in our head this will be appealing to the audience (mainly children). Since it'll be appealing it will be selling the product of people going to the cinema and watching the film.

At 2:08 - 2:23 we are able to see that there is so many emotions and it educates kids that it's fine to feel all sorts of emotions. The main emotions such as, joy, sadness, anger, disgust and fear (shown in the trailer).

Agile-M1
Target Audience:
Age: 6 - 14 years old
I think that the age range would be 6 - 14 years since it'll be suitable for children since they'll learn more about themselves (emotions) in a fun way.
Gender: Both male and Female
Both genders are suitable since there is a variety of different characters which are either male or female.
Interest: family, emotion
The film is about emotion and its a family film since it includes the main characters family..
Location: Global
It is global since there is dubbed and subbed of the film.
Ethnicity: Any
Any ethnicity is suitable since there are many characters which has different ethnicities and different backgrounds.

Codes and conventions:

From the trailer I expected emotions to be the main part. Since the title "Inside Out" I expected it also to be the inside of the brain and the out being the world where emotions are controlled and shown. The trailer contains a lot of narrative at 0:29 - 0:37 of the main character Joy explaining the emotions and what they do.

The trailer also contains loads of different types of music. For an example the start of the trailer it started off slow then all of a sudden at 1:45 the music builds up and shows multiple clips creating suspense. The trailer meets its expectations creating multiple different ways to engage the audience and let them know that this film is something different than any other film in the market. Showing its full potential with many different scenes from the film with humour sadness, and much more.

Analysis: D1
The representation of Inside Out has been shown throughout the trailer. Firstly, the title of the film Inside Out has literally been the interpretation. The trailer shows the audience that this film is fun and enjoyable and includes many clips of different scenes. This makes the audience eager to watch the film since it has all five on the main emotions in the trailer. We are able to see this at the start of the film at 0:10 showing us what the film is based on. The film being about emotions allows the audience to also feel emotions. The audience will not only understand the trailer but will also get to feel the emotions of the trailer and discover new emotions. The narrative being used multiple times in the trailer being stopped with a black screen and text at 0:27. This allows the audience to take a breath in and understand what is really going on and feel the emotions in the trailer. Therefore, the message of the trailer is seen, understanding what everyone feels and most importantly understanding what you're as the audience feeling.

ONE PIECE (TV Programme Trailer): P1

The TV Programme ONE PIECE entertains and sells products. As we can see at 2:42 - 2:47 humour has been added to engage the audience and make them have a laugh. Since before during the trailer we were able to see that this show mainly has fighting at 2:11 - 2:21. Multiple clips are added to show the intensity of fighting so adding a funny scene into the trailer lets the audience know that there is more to it then shown in the trailer. Which will entertain the audience.

The show sells products since it's a live action adaptation of the anime ONE PIECE. It'll gain more attention and new fans. This means that the fans will want to know what may happen next so they may buy the manga of ONE PIECE and read it.

Agile-M1
Target Audience:
Age: 16+
This is because the show has a lot of violence and adult jokes shown in the trailer.
Gender: Both male and female
There are multiple characters which are either male or female.
Interest: anime
Since this is a live action adaptation of the anime ONE PIECE then you may enjoy the show.
Location: Global
It has multiple dubbing and subbing on Netflix making it suitable for anyone to watch.
Ethnicity: Any
In the trailer we are able to see different ethnicities and different accents.

Codes and conventions:

From the trailer I expected a lot of action which the trailer did fulfil, and I didn't understand what the title meant before the trailer however the trailer explains the title and lets the audience get a good understanding on what the programme is about. The trailer contains lots of different props and special effects makeup seen at 1:57. We can see one of the villains have gotten special makeup done which brings tension to the audience since we have no idea what the villain is going to do.

In the trailer at 2:10 we are able to hear the music build up with multiple fighting clips which are used with special effects. With this happening it builds curiosity to the audience making them wonder what is actually going to happen in the programme. These conversions successfully reach the expectations since the audience since we have a variety of codes and conventions used. Each convention has something unique about it and they all collide together to help make the trailer and the programme interesting as possible.

Analysis: D1
The representation of ONE PIECE live action in the trailer makes us as the audience understand what's the meaning of the series. We are able to see the meaning which is are able to be anything you want. We are able to see this at 2:22 till 2:34, the main character believing in himself telling us as the audience to also believe in ourselves. Anything is possible if we put our minds to it. We are able to see that throughout the trailer, that everyone has dreams. There is a narrative of the main characters talking multiple times. This allows us as the audience to feel the emotions of the characters in the programme since we're able to hear them actually talk with emotions. The main character talks with passion and enthusiasm which means we will get a proper understanding what the shows passion is about and how much the meaning means throughout the trailer.

Genshin Impact (Game Trailer): P1

The game Genshin Impact entertains and sells products. At 1:03 - 1:36 we are able to see different characters and how they'll perform in the game. This will sell the product of the game since there is different characters, which means that people may get the game and make in game purchases.

By showing the full protentional of the game people will get interested easily since it's something new. It's not your average fighting game. You have to full fill tasks, shown at 0:26 - 0:36. This would entertain people since not only do they have to fight but they have to do tasks and much more. We are able to see in the trailer how much of a exciting game it is to play and the voices of the characters. The characters explaining what's going on and it has different tones making it exciting.

Agile-M1
Target Audience:
Age: 13+
Since the game has a lot of fighting and some cut scenes could have a lot of violence involved.
Gender: Both
In the trailer we are able to see different characters with different genders. You are also able to pick to either be a male or female.
Interest: Gaming
People who game will play this game and find it easy since it's straight forward.
Location: Global
Everyone from around the world plays the game since you are able to pick what server you want to be on either Asia, America or Europe.
Ethnicity: Any
All the playable characters have different ethnicities and their own storyline.

Codes and conventions:

From the trailer I expected there to be a lot of fighting/action since it's an action based game. I also expected it to be able to fight a lot of mobs and other playable characters. The trailer contains multiple scenes at 1:13 which has different camera angles that shows us what the game is really about. Showing us different ways the game is. It's not basic. It's not 2d it's 3d and involves a lot of editing, graphic designs and much more.

These conventions successfully reach the expectations of the audience since the game has a various amount of codes and conventions used in the trailer. The game shows its full potential telling the audience that this game isn't like any other game in the market.

Analysis: D1
The representation of Genshin Impact the game in the trailer makes us as the audience understand what's the meaning of the game. At 0:20 - 0:25 we are able to see what the game is really about, and the meaning behind it. The meaning we are able to see is that we go through everything, but everything will work out at the end. With this meaning it makes us the audience understand that this game is different. The narrative being one of the characters making the trailer much more meaningful since the narrative is also included in the game. The narrative has different tones on certain lines of each sentence making us the audience feel the suspense that's evolved around the game.

Miraculous Ladybug (Animation Trailer): P1

The animation Miraculous Ladybug sells products and educates. At the start of the trailer 0:00 - 0:05 and at the end of the trailer 0:39 - 0:45 we can see it promotes products because at the bottom it says, "Products Available At: Walmart, Target and Amazon". With this being at the start and end of the trailer people are able to get a taster of what the animation will be about and if they enjoy the trailer, they can watch the show and get products from the show.

The trailer also educates children since during the time 0:08 - 0:35 we can hear a song ladybug is singing which is about confidence and you are able to do anything. Since children are the main target audience, they'll be educated to know that they're capable of anything even if it goes wrong.

Agile-M1
Target Audience:
Age: 7 - 16
Since we are able to see that the main character will be fighting villains it won't be suitable for the younger children however 7 - 16 is the perfect age to watch the show.
Gender: Both Male and Female
The characters in the animation are different genders.
Interest: Action
This game contains a lot of action so if the audience enjoys action this show will be suitable for them.
Location: Global
Many languages are available when watching this animation. Subbed or dubbed.
Ethnicity: Any
The characters each have different ethnicities which means that any ethnicity is welcome.

Codes and conventions:

From the trailer I expected there to be a ladybug however not an actual person being a ladybug. The whole animation is a twist since you don't really know what the show is going to be about. The trailer contains Marinette the main character singing the theme song in the trailer. The lyrics in the trailer makes us as the audience get an understanding of what the show will be about.

The trailer also contains lots of different camera angles, graphics and much more to make the trailer seem more entertaining. Showing some of the potential the animation has. The conventions successfully reach the expectations of the audience, proving to the audience what the show is really made of. (in a good way)

Analysis: D1
The representation of Miraculous Ladybug in the trailer makes us as the audience understand what's the meaning of the animation. The meaning about this animation is that you're able to do anything under any circumstances. The song in the background has certain lyrics which will stand out to the audience. The song is the narrative throughout the trailer at 0:08 - 0:35. Since it's a song it'll stand out for kids making them listen to the song and get an understand the lyrics. The meaning gives passion and confidence to the audience.

CBeebies TV Ident: P1

The TV Ident of CBeebies informs and entertains. As we are able to see that it's Christmas themed. With the TV Ident being Christmas themed it informs the children (the audience) that Christmas is coming soon. At the end of the TV Ident at 0:10 we are able to see that the characters are happy which informs the audience that the program will be positive.

The TV Ident also entertains people since people are able to see that there is a lot going on and Children enjoy stuff like that. The narrative is just sound's the characters make which is happy sounds. We are able to see this at 0:03. The channels meaning is happiness and reflecting it on other people. This shows us what really a TV Ident is, reflecting what is going to appear on the channel.

Concluding paragraph

Out of the promos I have, analysed I think that the most important promo is the music video Bite Me - ENHYPEN. This is because they've took the title and make it a literal meaning throughout the music video and lyrics throughout the song. The message is seen clearly throughout the music video. The purpose of the music video showed the literal meaning which the other promos didn't show that well. The song is not only catchy but is rememberable since it's the literal meaning. This also makes the audience link to the music video and feel the passion they're feeling.

However, the promo that I find the least effective is the Miraculous Ladybug animation trailer. The reason for this is because the background is just music from the opening theme song. I'd change it up and make a build up with different music used. Also, a proper narrative that isn't a song. It's more like clips added together with no voice over or narrative. I'd also make the trailer easier to understand. Although it catches the audience's eyes, a normal narrative with a lot more passion would be much more suitable.

Overall, both trailers did great catch the audience's eye, however the best promo is the music video Bite Me - ENHYPEN.

P1: Defining Audio Visual Promos

 Defining Audio Visual Promos

Audio Visual Promos is when a media company is going to re-launch a new product. It can be a re-launch of a re-mastered film, series etc. The companies are wanting to promote their product on a day-to-day basis. Before the big launch of the product the company will make audio visual promos to gain attention from the target audience. This will help promote the new their product no matter what it is. Audio Visual Promos help inform, educate, entertain and sell products to the audience. It helps informing the audience on what the final product will be about, including the main elements of the products: e.g. who the actors are, the settings etc. It helps with educating the audience with the important information that is relevant to the final product. It also entertains by building up to the film product, making it enjoyable for the audience. Selling products is a crucial part of Audio Visual Promos since you'll also be selling products which will attract the audience and help the company gain money and interest.

LO4 - Evaluation (P6, D1, D2)
